Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2025 · Plain English, no legal jargon

The short version

We collect almost nothing. Your photo never leaves your device. Your location is used only to find the right official and then discarded. Your email is sent from your own email app — we never see it.

FixMMR is a civic tool built to help Mumbai Metropolitan Region residents report issues to the right local officials. We've designed it deliberately to minimise data collection.

Your photo

When you upload a photo, it is processed entirely on your device in your browser. We do not upload your photo to any server. We do not store it. The moment you move to the next step, it is gone.

If your photo contains GPS coordinates in its EXIF data, we read those coordinates locally on your device to determine your approximate area. This happens in your browser — the raw coordinates are never sent to us.

Your location

To convert GPS coordinates into a readable neighbourhood name (like "Wagle Estate, Thane"), we make a request to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service — a free, open-source geocoding tool. This request includes your coordinates and is sent to OpenStreetMap's servers.

We do not store your location. OpenStreetMap's privacy policy applies to that request — they are a non-profit and do not sell data.

If you prefer, you can always type your area name manually and skip photo upload entirely.

Your complaint email

The email you send is composed on your device and sent directly from your own email application — Gmail, Outlook, or whichever app you use. FixMMR never sees the contents of your email.

A copy is CC'd to complaints@fixmmr.in purely as a log of complaints filed. This helps us understand which areas have the most unresolved issues. We do not share this log publicly or with any third party.

AI email drafting

When you use the AI-assisted email drafting feature, your issue type, location, and description are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a draft email. This data is sent over an encrypted connection.

Anthropic does not use API data to train its models by default. You can read Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.

You are always shown the drafted email before it is sent, and you can edit or discard it.

No accounts, no tracking

FixMMR has no user accounts, no login, no cookies, no analytics, and no advertising. We do not know who you are. We do not track you across sessions or devices.

We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking scripts.

Your rights under DPDPA 2023

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to know what personal data we process and to request its deletion. Since we store almost no personal data, there is very little to request — but if you have any concerns, write to us at hello@fixmmr.in and we will respond within 7 days.
